About The Istana

The west facing Istana resides on a southwestern tip of Bali, Indonesia, in an area named The Bukit. This five suite estate overlooks white sand beaches and a lagoon abundant with sea life and coral, and at night, magical sunsets.

When the trade winds blow, a massive swell crashes onto the surrounding reef, crafting waves that attract worldwide surfing attention; the breaks are rated the fifth best in the world. Uluwatu beach is only a ten minute walk from the villa.

Uluwatu temple, one of the most revered temple’s on the island, is just a five minute drive away. A dedicated team of over 20 professional staff makes this magnificent luxury villa your home in the Island of the Gods.

Facilities

Set back approximately thirty meters from the cliff face, The Istana sits within a tremendous gated property and is composed of two swimming pools, a large dinning and relaxing bale, a games and children wing, and a private guest house (containing the master bedroom), and the main house/building.

The operational team of the Istana, over 25 people in total, possess extensive back of house facilities (offices, storage, changing rooms, etc) located on the ground floor of a building on the north east corner of the estate. The upper floor of this building is the games and children’s wing.

The games and children wing features one large room with a pool table and video game corner (with both Wii and PS3 machines). There are also three other smaller rooms (and bathrooms), one of which has four bunk beds for children. One room for domestic staff (who may be travelling with guests or locally hired and given overnight charges) featuring two small beds, and another room which can be arranged to host children’s cots or other configurations.

A restaurant grade kitchen is located on the south east side of the estate. Covered parking hosts the 3 cars that come with the Istana (one ‘beach car’ and the Alphard) and also provide for additional covered and non-covered slots for additional guest vehicles.

Within the main house are a living room, dining room, TV room and lounge, and four very similar bedroom suites (apart from the master suite which stands in its own separate building). All of the guest buildings are single-story and open-air with rich teakwood floors, inspiring a natural ambiance, while maintaining and accentuating the spectacular view and modern design.

The overall style is a blend of modern architecture and traditional Indonesian detailing, with features that highlight Indonesian materials and workmanship. The artwork is a collection of primitive art and antiques from around the Indonesian archipelago, which complement the stylish blend of traditional and modern.

Accommodation

The Istana boasts a total of 5 bedroom suites (each with double beds) that can sleep up to a total of ten adults. In addition, the games and children’s wing can sleep up to four small children and infants and two domestic staff.

The master-suite is in its own building to the north side of the property featuring a deck and a small private swimming pool.

Looking at the central building – it’s in a rough ‘H’ shape; with each end of the ‘H’ possessing a bedroom. Looking at the ocean, the two symmetrical wings attached to the living room accommodate dining room to the left (the south), and the television room to the right (the north).

Wine & Dine

The Istana boasts a dining service better than most restaurants, and the menu features a wonderful array of dishes. Extensive Western dining options are available, but we also recommend you to try some of the Balinese dishes for a unique cultural experience.

Lunch & Dinner Special Menus

A number of special lunch and dinner menus are offered, which require a day’s notice to the chef in order to make arrangements. Please remember while the villa’s facilities and staff capabilities are of the highest quality, the villa’s kitchen cannot maintain the same inventory as a restaurant that serves hundreds of patrons in a day, thus pre-ordering is a key component of the villa’s food service.

Dinner parties and functions can all be catered to – please ask the chef or manager for more details at any time of the day, whether you are requesting breakfast, lunch, dinner, or snacks.

Food & Beverage Charges

For your convenience, as with all charges, food & beverage charges will be billed to your final account and payable in total upon checkout.

Special Requests & Dietary Requirements

Should you have a request for a dish not on the menu, or a special dietary requirement, please feel free to ask the chef, who will strive to comply with all of your wishes. Special items that need to be purchased and billed to you at cost plus 30% (the Istana Team will present receipts as proof of purchase and add the total of cost + 30% to your final bill).

Large Dining Groups

If you have a large group it is advisable that the group dines on the same dish or that you order several dishes to be shared. Please allow at least one day’s notice, and feel free to discuss any requirements with the chef or villa manager.

Beverages

The Istana has a stock of soft drinks, beers, spirits, wines and champagnes. All beverages are charged per drink that you order, except for wine which is charged per bottle.

Please also ask the staff if you have any special beverage orders and they will accommodate your needs. Special items that need to be purchased separately will be purchased and billed to you at cost plus 30%.

* No other clients or groups will be booked at The Istana during any type of booking including last minute bookings, meaning that each booking is guaranteed exclusive occupancy of the villa

  All Rates are quoted in United States Dollars, per night, and subject to change without prior notice.
• Seasons:
  Low Season: Jan 09 - June 30 (Except Easter week and Chinese New year)

• Minumum of stay
  It varies, the outline is low season = 3 nights, high = 5 nights and peak = 10 nights.
• Payment
  A 50% – non refundable deposit is required by the villa owner to secure the villa upon booking confirmation. And final payment to be settled 45 days prior to arrive in Bali on low season and 60 days on peak season. Booking made within 30 days prior to arrival, full payment is required.
